Balboa Park is great to photograph in the early morning or late afternoon and even at night. Planning Note: The San Diego Zoo is part of Balboa Park so you could photograph the San Diego Zoo in the morning, when the animals are most active and then photograph Balboa Park that afternoon or evening.
Seals at La Jolla Cove: The Seals and Sea Lions are the unsung characters of La Jolla Village. Depending on the time of the year that you visit you can see baby Seals and Sea Lions learning to swim, hunt and do their favorite activity, sleep! As always, early morning or late afternoon is the best time for great natural lighting.
Children’s Beach at La Jolla Village: This interesting photo location was created so that the children could safely swim in a protected area of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. This beach is often closed off to swimmers during the ‘pupping season’ for the Seals.
Gaslamp Quarter: This lively part of Downtown San Diego has a number of great photo opportunities for nightlife, foodie shots and great lifestyle photos. Nighttime is definitely the best time of day to capture the Gaslamp Quarter.
